Anela Luzi is a German-Albanian actress, performer, and theatre educator. She was born in 1996 in Kaiserslautern and grew up in Karlsruhe at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where her parents worked after migrating from Albania. From 2017 to 2021, she studied acting at the Athanor Akademie für darstellende Künste in Passau, where she developed a strong focus on movement-based and interdisciplinary practices. She works internationally across theatre, film, and performance. Among other projects, she performed in Exil at the Berliner Ensemble, directed by Luk Perceval. In 2026/2027, she continues collaborating with Luk Perceval on the research project Open Source Piece, which explores the emotional and social dimensions of shame.

During her acting training, she performed in several theatre productions, including WHITE by Edith Buttingsrud Pedersen and Bernarda Albas Haus, directed by Florin Vidamski, in which she played Angustias, her first theatre role. Her work during and after her training has also been presented at international theatre festivals, including the National Theatre Festival in Sibiu, Romania.

Her ongoing artistic collaboration with director Paula Lynn Breuer includes "To tell a story is an act of Love", presented at the "Körber Studio Junge Regie" at Thalia Theater in Hamburg and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, as well as "Die Verhinderung der Distanz" which received the ZHdK Promotion Prize and will return to the stage in March 2027.

Her interdisciplinary practice extends from film to performance, including Variaciones de Koch, a Uruguayan production by Julián Goyoaga and Rain Dogs Cine, and Venn Bodies, a collaborative performance at Uferstudios Berlin exploring the body as a vessel of cultural memory through the exchange and reinterpretation of artistic practices.

In the short films GAZE (dir. Arina Popa) and IN VENUS (dir. Edith Buttingsrud Pedersen), she explores the female-read body in relation to vulnerability, shame and self-perception. Both films have been presented at international film festivals, including the Berlin Short Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, Serbest International Film Festival and On Art Film Festival, with IN VENUS also receiving finalist recognition at the International Art Film Festival Berlin.

In 2026, she also completed further training in theatre education in order to create spaces for encounter, slowness, and artistic research, including within educational contexts. She currently divides her time between Karlsruhe, Paris and Berlin, where she continues developing collaborative projects at the intersection of performance, film, and theatre. In June, she collaborated with Moritz Tostmann on the reading of The Cost of the Night at Bogen 43. Most recently, she played the leading role in "Something Should Burn" a film produced at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), directed by Tilmann Betz.
